The Beast (1997)

And another poem. Not much to say about this one, just read it.

Or not.

The Beast

Copyright © March, 1997

Such longing is too old;
it lies festering within my bones. Its youthful gentleness now vanished,
Like an impatient venomous beast,
it lashes harshly for its fulfillment,
seeking,
hunting,
chasing,
that which should freely come.
To think,
the yearning that rots within my soul,

its rank maddening poison
seeping through my blood,
can be countered,
its insane hunger quenched,
by one simple staple…
love.
