Another poem with an interesting history. Well, maybe it’s boring as heck to you guys, but I’m amused looking back at it.

It all started at this one Debate Club party. Debaters are big party animals – I mean, come on, they go away for entire weekends to “tournaments” where the main event is drinking and partying, and the actual “debates” are just a convenient excuse.

Although, not that many people came to this one, and there were bottles of Crown Royal just lying around (paid for by club funds, of course). I couldn’t let that go to waste, right?

Anyway, needless to say I managed to offend most of the women there, especially Carrie. And since I tend to take these things personally, and they bug me until I do something, I wrote the little thing that follows as an apology.

She still hates me, but, meh, at least I have something productive to show for the experience.

Yes, I’m weird. So sue me. :)

and as beautiful in its simplicity,
as the glorious person

Carrie… aptly named,
Beloved by all,

glows from your cheeks,
from your open smile,
and suffuses the ether,
bathing those near,
in your comforting, angelic aura.

Once witnessed,
your heavenly image,
changes a soul;
and would leave,
a cold, dark emptiness,
a longing never fulfilled
in your absence -
but for the warmth of your spirit,
your love for life,
that shames such greed.
In its stead, you leave behind,
a respect for life,
and a will to strive, to excell,
to attempt to reach,
the olympian heights,
you conquered long ago.
