Interesting Art by Danni Shinya Luo
Via BoingBoing, I saw this video interview with a pretty interesting young artist, Danni Shinya Luo. I don’t think my wife would approve of having her art around, but it is quite remarkable!

Well, District 9 looks interesting, in the back-to-basics, storytelling Sci-Fi sort of way (as opposed to the ‘big explosions oooh pretty’ that Hollywood has a tendency to run with). Besides Star Trek, has there been a good Science Fiction yarn to hit the big screen lately? (via ReelViews)
I am constantly impressed by the high quality of ‘amateur’ productions available with time, dedication, and modern technology! Here’s a movie I’ll be downloading on the 3rd of May:

Here are some interesting links from the blogosphere, and some thoughts:
Well, I’ve been silent on this site for a bit now. As some of you know, I’m getting married soon, so that’s a large culprit. I also got swept into the game Overlord for a while (campy & fun, although repetitive after you get the hang of it), so that consumed some of my free time… :)
Anyway, I just thought I’d mention a movie I saw recently – Chloe in the Afternoon. I first heard about this movie because of Chris Rock’s sortof-new movie, I Think I Love My Wife, which is essentially a remake of Chloe. Rock’s film I found unwatchable because I absolutely despise movies that rely on the sheer idiocy of otherwise intelligent characters to progress whatever plot they can come up with. Not that they make bad decisions — but that they make decisions no other reasonable person of their intelligence and circumstances would make.

My fiancee and I went to see the Canadian Opera Company’s performance of Gounod’s “Faust” a little while ago — probably a long while ago (February 4th I think). This was at the new Four Seasons Centre. What follows is my attempt at a review, which is actually more like a little plot analysis. Bear with me, I haven’t done a formal English class in ages and my writing has suffered…
James Blunt made a really silly video to his ubiquitous and overplayed “Beautiful”.
Weird Al, being the funny guy that he is, made his own version, “You’re Pitiful”.
Some netizen kindly made an amazingly executed video to this song that doubly mocks James Blunt. Check it out — it’s almost as good as that Paxil Back video!
Well, my ex-girlfriend (the very first one — from high school), whom I keep in touch with occasionally, has just sent me this little goodie: a video of her singing “Ah Chi mi dice mai!”
I’m not a particularly good judge of opera but I think she sounds wonderful. Check it out!
