Copyright Update

December 07, 2007 By: DancingSamurai Category: Links

Wow, apparently my letter was noticed and linked to from Michael Geist’s latest update. I feel all warm and fuzzy! He points to an excellent article setting forth the issues in an easy-to-understand way.

So, why is the Harper government so keen on copyright changes that leading musicians don’t want, and which restrict and criminalize legitimate consumer behaviour?

The other thing I just noticed is that the house my wife and I bought is in Garth Turner’s riding. I was impressed by him earlier this year; I’ll definitely have to write to him about the copyright issue. As someone who uses technology to reach out to his constituents, I expect he’ll have a better than average understanding and interest in these issues. Plus he’s a Conservative-turned-Liberal, and he may be more likely to vote against this bill than my current Conservative MP.

I’ll report back any replies that I receive!
