Weekend in Ottawa
I just got back from Ottawa this weekend… what an awesome trip!
Drive up was OK, it only started raining near Ottawa. Yeah, I rented a car for the trip up… took my old bike (remember I won a new one last summer at this play I went to…) up since my bro’s got swiped. :(
Driving is so much fun… I’d forgotten that. The problem with Canada though is that it is so huge… you have to drive for most of a day to get ANYWHERE. And the speed limits suck big time. Well, who pays attention to them anyway?
Ottawa was awesome too — the weather was great. Andrew (my brother’s army friend) was up there as well. We partied all weekend; I got to see Eugene & Marina as well (you know, that crazy russian couple…)
I also made the mistake of seeing Kristie, January, and Michelle all at once. Boy was that ever estrogen overload… I’ll have to remember not to do that again… :)
And the drive back was awesome… had Andrew as company for part of the way. Then accidentally got on the eastbound 401 at the east end of Kingston, and had to drive 20 km out of my way to get to the next exit and back again..:(
But as compensation, I saw the most awesome rainbow ever. There was this one strip of rain about 1 km wide through which this thing was arcing. It was wild. Unfortunately — no pic since I was driving solo.
Also when I did get turned back around, I was treated to a gorgeous sunset. You know, when wisps of clouds are right by the setting sun, giving some texture and shading to the russet sky? Beautiful, simply beautiful…
Anyway, I’m finishing this entry while on call (yes it’s wednesday already… I was so tired & busy the last few days I haven’t had time to write this) so I have no access to my camera… but I’ll put up the few pics I got soon.
