Another day in the ER

August 09, 2004 By: DancingSamurai Category: My Life

I’m tired and about to go to bed, but before I forget I should note the funny and rather embarassing thing that happened to me today… I was sewing up someone’s finger and needed another 4-0 suture since I had a lot of stitches to put in… and I heard a young woman talking to a patient in the next section of the room. Assuming that she was a nurse, I kindly asked her to get another suture for me (since you know, you’re wearing sterile gloves etc. so it’s difficult to do yourself).

Turns out she was the orthopedic surgeon… :( That’s ok, she went and got it for me and complimented me on my stitching job… I was still quite embarassed though. :P Especially since she was young, good looking, and very friendly. *blush*

I redeemed myself by observing her aspirate a knee and helping her with that (getting items while she was wearing sterile stuff, so it was quite appropriate, hehe).

Anyway, having an orthopedic surgeon get a suture for a med student… there’s something that doesn’t happen every day. :P

Anyway, I need some sleep so good night!
